New to Light-O-Rama products and feel overwhelmed with your new purchase?  Consider sponsoring an on-site Light-O-Rama training class.

Have an official Light-O-Rama training class at your facility

Want to learn about using Light-O-Rama products in a convenient location? Our on-site JumpStart classes are typically one day events where an experienced instructor shares tips and tricks.

We’ll come to you and teach the class. It’s fast moving and will be an overview of the products, how things fit together and get you comfortable with the basics of sequencing lights to music.  You’ll be able to listen to and exchange ideas with others as well as benefit from the hard earned knowledge of the seasoned instructor running the class.  Keep in mind this type of class does not have the time to delve into the deep details of any Light-O-Rama product but is designed to get you comfortable with the entire ecosystem so you can use it with confidence.

What does a typical JumpStart class cover?

In the morning, it’s all about the hardware, meaning the stuff you can touch.

  • Light controller types.  Pro versus residential.  Prebuilt or build it yourself.
  • Using LED or incandescent lighting and how it effects your design
  • Computer, standalone or ShowTime Director control
  • Layout basics including data cables and wireless
  • DMX, Cosmic Color Ribbons/Pixels/Bulbs, etc.
  • Dumb pixels
  • Smart pixels

You get a half hour for lunch or you can hang around and quiz the instructor while he’s eating a bologna sandwich.

In the afternoon, it’s all about software, meaning the stuff you can’t touch.

  • Hardware utility and basic troubleshooting
  • Visualizer
  • Sequence Editor, simple animations to full musical sequences
  • Simple Show Builder
  • Verifier
  • SuperStar
  • Pixel Editor
  • Build a sequence in less than two minutes
  • Troubleshooting techniques
  • General questions and answers

There’s a lot of ground to cover in just a few hours. We recommend bringing your PC or laptop with the Light-O-Rama ShowTime Sequencing Suite installed.  If you already have a light controller you can bring it, experiment on your own equipment and take the results home at the end of the day.  We also suggest bringing an extension cord if you have an extra.

Don’t have any Light-O-Rama products yet?  No problem. If you bring a PC or laptop, preferably running Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 (though Windows XP or Vista will do) we’ll loan you a fully functioning version of our ShowTime Sequencing Suite.

Don’t have a laptop or PC?  You can watch what the instructor does on the big projection screen and during labs, work with someone that has a PC or laptop.
